Mission statement

Labor of Love Youth Development Foundation, Inc's. mission is to promote student interest and engagement in STEM education to increase the representation of Black and/or African Americans in STEM related careers, by providing access to quality enrichment programming.

Our Program AIM

Many Black and/or African American high school students face limited access to educational and financial resources, making it difficult to prepare for and pursue STEM degrees.

 Our program is dedicated to STEM:


  • Support Black and/or African American students in pursuing STEM majors and careers.


  • Tackle economic barriers that limit access to STEM education and opportunities.


  • Engage with like-minded organizations to expand resources and opportunities.


  • Mentor and provide scholarships to deserving high school seniors.


Through these efforts, we aim to empower the next generation of Black and/or African American STEM leaders by equipping them with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to succeed. 

our Program Offerings

College Prep 101 Program

Program Target

The College Prep 101 Program is designed to support high school students in grades 10-12 nationwide, spanning all 50 states. This monthly virtual workshop series provides valuable guidance to both students and parents as they navigate the college admissions process. The program is open to all students, including those who may find the process overwhelming, ensuring accessibility and support for a diverse range of participants.


Structured as a series of monthly virtual workshops, the College Prep 101 Program focuses on different aspects of the college admissions journey. Each session builds upon the knowledge gained in previous workshops, equipping students with the tools and confidence needed to successfully prepare for college.

WORKSHOP FORMAT

The virtual workshop series will be conducted using online video conferencing platforms, allowing students to participate from the comfort of their homes. Each monthly workshop will last approximately 1.5 hours on the 2nd Thursday of each month and will consist of presentations, interactive discussions, and hands-on activities.

Labor of Love stEM Scholars Program

Program Target

The Labor of Love STEM Scholars Program is a 6-week virtual workshop series designed for minority high school students across all 50 states who are disproportionately underrepresented in STEM fields. Our mission is to bridge the diversity gap in STEM by equipping students with hands-on problem-solving experiences and exposure to various STEM disciplines. Minimum GPA requirement: 3.0.


Throughout the program, you will engage with industry professionals who have successfully built careers in STEM. They will share their experiences, challenges, and insights to motivate and empower you on your own path. We encourage active participation, questions, and discussions to foster an engaging and collaborative learning environment.

  • Gain exposure to STEM fields and careers.
  • Understand the importance of diversity in STEM and its impact on innovation.
  • Develop essential skills required for success in STEM.

Labor of Love Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Scholarship

Scholarship Target

The Labor of Love Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to underrepresented graduating high school seniors who plan to pursue higher education at an accredited four-year Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and intend to major in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline. This scholarship program is designed to enhance college accessibility and affordability for deserving students. 

SCHOLARSHIP Aim

By awarding The Labor of Love Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Scholarship, the organization hopes to empower and support the next generation of underrepresented STEM professionals. This scholarship serves as a steppingstone toward achieving educational and career goals while also helping to create a more inclusive and diverse STEM community. 

2024 Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

It is important for applicants to showcase their academic achievements, passion for STEM, and dedication to promoting diversity within their field of study.  


Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States.
  • Graduating high school senior from the CSRA.
  • Attending a Historically Black College or University (Fall 2025). 
  • Majoring in a STEM-related field.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (unweighted).
